Steven Kretchmer founded his distinguished line in Los Angeles, California in 1991, following the acquisition of his Bachelor's in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. Kretchmer is known for being a revolutionary in fine jewelry design with his tension-set rings and magnetic Polarium platinum pieces. Before his passing, Kretchmer was quoted as saying he does "...not redo what has been done"; and his daughter Claudia has firmly committed herself to that mission since taking over the show.
