Babs has known Julie Romanenko for nearly twenty years now. Two jewelry nerds who found each other at a trade show and never quite let go. There have been adventures, some of which are appropriate for a company blog and some of which are absolutely not. What we can say is that this kind of friendship, the kind built on shared obsessions and mutual respect for the craft, is exactly why Alara carries Just Jules in the first place.

From August 13 through August 23, Julie's work takes over the gallery, and for the run of the show, everything from her line is 15% off.

Who Is Julie Romanenko

Julie started out at eleven, making friendship bracelets out of liquid silver beads, which is either the most on-brand origin story in jewelry or proof that some people just know early. She studied English Literature at UMass Amherst, then landed in New York's Diamond District, working days and taking night classes at Parsons School of Design. The pieces she made for herself started getting more attention than her day job. Just Jules was born not long after.

Her work leans vintage and Art Deco, built around whatever gemstone or found object catches her eye first, and it shows. She won first place in the MJSA Gold Distinction for a diamond bracelet, her pieces have shown up in InStyle and JCK, and she casts her in-house work in recycled gold because that is simply how she runs her business. No campaign, no badge. Just the way she does things.

Expect opals, Kingman turquoise, rose-cut diamonds, Roman coin pendants, and a whole lot of one-of-a-kind set with interesting gems and diamonds.
